10:10 p.m. : Quite remotely. The general public really does not follow the prize list, and a number of directors subscribed to Cannes are obscure strangers in the United States. I talk to you about it at length in my paper on the tense relations between Cannes and Hollywood, published at the beginning of the fortnight.

(JEREMIE LUCIANI / FRANCEINFO)

10:08 p.m. : Hello, can you tell us how the Cannes Film Festival is perceived by the world of Hollywood cinema? thank you for your work

10:08 p.m. : Many shared prizes, a film kiss, a Palme d’or which comes (again) to reward a social satire. This 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will have delivered some nice surprises. To make your own prize list, all you have to do is go see these films, some of which will be released very soon. As for me, it’s time to lower the curtain. Good evening to you !

10:01 p.m. : Thank you for your words which go straight to my heart. This fight is the one that opened my eyes, I hope to share it with many people. That’s why I’m running for office today. Thanks. #CannesFestival2022

10:01 p.m. : The baker from Besançon, hailed by the Dardenne brothers in their speech of thanks for their prize, reacts on Twitter.

9:55 p.m. : The Square was already a mistake… not twice please…

9:55 p.m. : Not the kind that will bring the crowds back to the cinema! We should perhaps take into account the tastes of real people!

9:55 p.m. : @Matt Our journalist Jacky Bornet remained on his hunger in front of this film. In his review, he laments “the shortcomings of a somewhat simplistic approach to a class struggle updated by a talented director and a provocative nothing, of course, but with the expected discourse.

9:54 p.m. : Could you present the Palme d’Or film to us, please?

9:53 p.m. : I loved The Square five years ago. Congratulations to Östlund for this fabulous award!

9:53 p.m. : Look no further than this graph (the related article can be found here).

9:51 p.m. : It is still quite masculine this list ?

9:49 p.m. : Congratulations to Ruben Östlund for his palme d’or! I have always loved his movies

9:49 p.m. : Two consecutive films. Two palms. Ostlund level Haneke #cannes2022

9:47 p.m. : The Palme d’Or is awarded to TRIANGLE OF SADNESS (WITHOUT FILTER) directed by Ruben ÖSTLUND

#Cannes2022 #Palmares #Awards #PalmedOr #TRIANGLEOFSADNESS –

The Palme d’or winner is Ruben ÖSTLUND for TRIANGLE OF SADNESS!

9:49 p.m. : The film Triangle of Sadness (Without filterin VF) by Swedish Ruben Östlund won the Palme d’Or. The latter had already received it in 2017 for The Square.

9:43 p.m. : Very moved, the Belgian director Lukas Dhont, 31, recovered his Grand Prix in the presence of one of the actors of Close, his winning film. At 15, the young Eden Ambrine played here in his first film.

9:43 p.m. : @Palmipedes Indeed, one has the impression of a dilution of the prize list. Note that the Palme has not been shared since 1993, and it would really be a thunderbolt if it were.

9:41 p.m. : With the palmes d’honneur we are at 7 “bonus” prizes for 9 prizes normally, that no longer has any value, jury not held who did not know how to decide or proposals too weak… Frémaux continues to bury the Festival …

9:37 p.m. : The Grand Prize is shared between two films, Close of Lukas Dhont, who had made a strong impression yesterday, and Stars at noon by Claire Denis, which received a more mixed reception.

9:34 p.m. : Small prize list point, the jury awarded many prizes ex-aequo to reward a maximum of films, it is not quite the spirit of a tightened prize list wanted by Gilles Jacob at the time. It’s the second prize split in two, in addition to a special reward, it almost starts to look like the Fan School where (almost) everyone wins.

9:29 p.m. : Korean director Park Chan-Wook wins the best director award for Decision to leave. It is (as expected) a triumph for Korean cinema.

9:27 p.m. : During their award speech, the Belgian directors salute the baker from Besançon who went on a hunger strike to obtain the regularization of his undocumented employee. He is now a legislative candidate.

9:26 p.m. : The Dardenne brothers, regulars on the charts at Cannes, win the prize at the 75th festival for Tori and Lokita, an exceptional reward. No third palm for the Belgian duo.

9:23 p.m. : A fun moment in the ceremony, when the Egyptian director Tarek Saleh asked the public to pose for a photo. We are now waiting for him to publish it on social networks 😉

(FRANCE 2)

9:22 p.m. : The other film chosen ex-aequo by the jury is The 8 mountains by Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix Van Groeningen. A story of friendship between a child from the mountains and his friend from the city.

9:21 p.m. : No dunce cap but a nice joint Jury prize awarded to EO by Jerzy Skolimowski. A film that tells a lot of our world through the eyes of a donkey, not necessarily well treated by humans.

9:14 p.m. : The best actor award goes to Song Kang-ho for his role in Kore-eda Hirokazu’s #Broker. Big joy for this guy so great, so accessible, so warm. This rewards at the same time his fabulous career: #Parasite, #TheHost, #MemoriesOfMurder…#Cannes2022

9:13 p.m. : The face and name of Song Kang-Ho probably tells you something. He was on the bill of Parasiteor other great Korean productions like crazy western The Good, the Bad and the Crazywhich I highly recommend!

9:12 p.m. : Best Actor Award goes to South Korean actor Song Kang-Ho for his role in the film brokerby director Kore-Eda Hirokazu.

9:03 p.m. : Iranian actress Zar Amir Ebrahimi wins Best Actress award for her role in Nights of Mashhad.

9:02 p.m. : He made a point of congratulating his jury, which he gladly qualifies as “generous”. Find Vincent Lindon’s opening speech.

9:00 p.m. : @Flrnc33 We are in the process of isolating the video for you so that those who were stuck in front of a leg of flageolets can see it 😉

8:59 p.m. : What a magnificent president! Moving and realistic opening and closing speeches! Well done Mr Lindon!

8:56 p.m. : They are the ones who decided on tonight’s winners. The members of the jury have just entered the stage, closely followed by their president, actor Vincent Lindon.

(FRANCE 2)

8:48 p.m. : It’s the Camera d’or’s turn to be awarded. And it’s war pony which delights this prize, a social chronicle carried by the director Gina Gammell.

8:45 p.m. : @Lolo I have a blue checkered shirt with the sleeves rolled up for the most beautiful effect. We’re getting dressed up to deliver the news with you, you know 😉 But hats off to Rossy de Palma for her sartorial audacity 😉

8:45 p.m. : Rosy dressed in a straw hut… she’s great!!

8:43 p.m. : To start the ceremony, this is the short film The Water Murmurs who received the Palme d’or in this category. A poetic, almost fantastic story by Chinese director Jianying Chen.

8:33 p.m. : If you don’t announce Close as a Palme d’Or, I’m crying

8:47 p.m. : Let’s go for the award ceremony (it seems that we should no longer say closing ceremony). Virginie Efira as mistress of ceremonies on the red carpet, and Pierre-Louis Caron her counterpart in this live 😉

(FRANCE 2)

8:28 p.m. : Good evening @gl74, the appointment is given in a few minutes, from 8:30 p.m. on France 2 to follow the ceremony live. Nothing prevents you from keeping this Live open next to you, for an experience worthy of the best cinemas.

8:23 p.m. : What time is the Cannes ceremony? No climb of the steps on France TV?

8:22 p.m. : If you haven’t really followed the news of the festival, where 21 films were in competition this year, here are the few films that could stand out. Unlike football, I would be careful not to make predictions tonight.

8:06 p.m. : Good evening Peter! So, it’s just the jacket, but it’s the intention that counts, it seems. In any case, I can’t wait to discover with you the winners of this 2022 edition, which promises to be powerful, judging by the list of favorites.

8:04 p.m. : He put on his most beautiful tuxedo to accompany me in this live. I named Pierre-Louis Caron, who puts on a palm to try to discipline his hair every morning. It is with him that we will live the awards ceremony of the Festival, which begins in a handful of minutes.

8:04 p.m. : We take stock of the news of this sunny Saturday evening.

They won’t leave empty-handed this time. After a series of lost finals, La Rochelle won the European Rugby Cup by dominating the big favorite, the Irish from Leinster (24-21).

Who will win the Palme d’Or? The jury will reveal its winners in 40 minutes and it will be to follow live here. In the meantime, you can read our investigation behind the scenes of the Cannes jury.

It’s just a goodbye Gilles Simon! The 37-year-old French tennis player bid farewell to Roland-Garros after a three-set loss to Croatian Marin Cilic.

Who from Liverpool or Real Madrid will lift the cup with the big ears? The Champions League final is to follow in this live from 9 p.m.!

7:16 p.m. : Older…the lesson of ?

7:14 p.m. : ParasiteI admit this film was a real treat !!!

7:13 p.m. : I feel you are teasing 😉 I remind you all the same that the Festival rewarded very watchable films, from the Coen brothers to Quentin Tarantino via Ken Loach and the formidable Parasite three years ago. We were discussing precisely the movie Titanium with my comrade Violaine Jaussent earlier. La Palme 2021 is an experience from which we do not emerge unscathed. And this year the favorite seems to be James Gray, who signed the formidable adventure film The Lost City of Z. Relax, it’s not going to be okay. And at worst, we are never safe from a pun on the name of the Uzbek director in this live 😉
