Committed filmmaker, Robert Guédiguian begins a new fight by putting his talent at the service of the Armenian cause. Of Armenian origin through his father, he signs the new video campaign calling for donations in solidarity with this country, organized by the Armenian Fund of France. “I believe that you have to pay taxes to participate in the survival of this country, otherwise I think it is threatened with extinction”, explains the director of Twist in Bamako.

In this video clip titled Armenia, every month, Robert Guédiguian is sounding the alarm. He deplores donations always given “See you tomorrow” and a country that is dying during this time. “Don’t wait until it’s too late, don’t put it off for a few months, we have to go now, let’s not wait for this country to disappear to help it”, adds the director.

Main target of this campaign: the 600,000 Armenians living in France. According to the association, if 10 euros were taken from them every month, the fund could collect 72 million euros each year to help the inhabitants who remained in their native land. The amount collected will then be injected into four strategic areas: agriculture, education, solar energy and the development of partially destroyed border villages. Armenia still bears the scars of the war against Azerbaijan for control of Nagorno-Karabakh and its defeat in 2020, leaving the country ruined.

About forty personalities from all walks of life have already signed the operation’s support charter Armenia every month. Among the names, we find the Armenian photographer Antoine Agoudjian and the Caesarized actress Ariane Ascaride, muse of Robert Guédiguian. But also the presenter Stéphane Bern, the musician André Manoukian, the Dardenne Brothers and the journalist Marie Desplechin. The modalities are to be found on the site of the Armenian Fund of France.
