Director Ladj Ly is back in theaters with his new film Bâtiment 5, which will be released on Wednesday December 6. A film which shows another reality of the suburbs, denouncing the poor housing which affects these areas. It tells the story of a building, located in an imaginary city, which is threatened with demolition by the town hall. “There are more than six million poorly housed people in France, so it’s a subject that is quite important to me”explain Ladj Ly in the 12/13 news, Monday. “Unfortunately, residents of the neighborhoods are likely to be expropriated or evicted from their homes”he denounces, affirming that this subject “he really cares about him”.

A tribute to “women who fight” in the neighborhoods

In this film, the actress Anta Diaw plays Haby, a woman who sets out to save this building. “We are in the process of presenting the film all over France, and we realize after each preview that we have a person who comes and tells us that we have described their life. All these people really recognize themselves in the character of Haby”she indicates in the 12/13 info. “For me, it was important to pay tribute to all these women who fight in all these neighborhoods”adds Ladj Ly.
