The famous red guide reveals from 10 a.m. its prize list from Strasbourg.

Gastronomy lovers have an appointment in Strasbourg. After Cognac last year, it is from the Palais des Congrès in the Alsatian capital that the Michelin guide presents, on the morning of Monday March 6, its 2023 vintage. “This is probably one of the largest gatherings of chefs ever held in history,” welcomes the boss of the guide, Gwendal Poullennec, who assures that nearly 500 French chefs have confirmed their visit. Twenty European chefs have made the trip. A number “considerable” and a first in the history of Michelin, assures the one who took the reins of the guide in 2018. You can follow the ceremony live on video.

The party should not be spoiled by the revelation of demotions (five in total, not counting the twenty tables having lost their only badge), which was made a week earlier. If no chef holding three stars had been demoted during the 2021 and 2022 vintages, the guide announced last Monday that the tables of Guy Savoy and Christopher Coutanceau lost their third star, the highest distinction in the world of gastronomy.

Elected best chef in the world for the sixth consecutive time in November, Guy Savoy had held three stars since 2002. Christopher Coutanceau had obtained his third macaroon just before the first confinement in 2020.
