A busy Agricultural Show
HAS the opening of the International Agricultural ShowSaturday February 24, Emmanuel Macron’s visit was hectic, even chaotic. Under the whistles and jeers of demonstrators, the head of state spoke with some farmer representatives.
Various commitments were announced by the President of the Republic, with a view to calming the anger of farmers. Among them, an emergency cash flow plan, floor prices in each sector or even recognition of “our agriculture and our food as a major general interest of the French nation”.
Head of the majority list announced for the European elections
The head of state’s camp was slow to announce the head of the majority list in the European elections, left behind in the polls by the National Rally. Thursday February 29, It’s ultimately Valérie Hayer, head of the Renew group in the European Parliament which formalized its designation. “I am proud to be the standard bearer of the only pro-European coalition in this election”, she said.
Sending troops to Ukraine “not excluded”
Monday February 29, Emmanuel Macron affirmed that sending Western troops to Ukraine must not “be excluded” in the future. An unprecedented statement delivered following a international conference organized at the Élysée, in the presence of 27 other countries. The latter continued by insisting that “we will do whatever it takes so that Russia cannot win the war”.
Inclusion of abortion in the Constitution
Monday March 4, 2024 is a historic day for women in France, and a symbol for the whole world. Meeting in Congress at the Château de Versailles, Parliament made France the first country in the world to explicitly register abortion in its Constitution. Behind the scenes, Emmanuel Macron’s government would have played a “very active role”, his advisors evoking “very regular contacts” between the executive and influential senators.
