On November 4, the Russian government confirmed the shooting of cruise missiles at a shipyard to the east coast of the Crimean peninsula through Ukraine. On the night of November 5 to 6, kyiv accuses Russia of firing four missiles and launching attack drones in southern Ukraine. On the 621st day since the start of the Russian invasion of the country, the war in Ukraine is still ongoing.
EU enlargement still under discussion
Saturday November 4, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, visited Kiev for the sixth time since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The objective of this new visit: to discuss the country’s potential accession to the European Union, with Ukraine having the candidate status since June 2022.
Fear that Middle East conflict will “divert attention”
During the visit of Ursula von der Leyen, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his fear that the conflict in the Middle East “distracts attention” of his country’s war against Russia. The latter wanted to reassure his Western allies by specifying that the conflict is not in a “dead end”. Comments in particular about destination of the United Stateswho seem increasingly divided on the question of military aid provided to Ukraine.
