The three former French internationals look back on the excellent start to the tournament of the XV of France.
The floor is given to the elders to see the future. Imanol Harinordoquy, Dimitri Yachvili and Yannick Jauzion, who all three experienced the joy of a Grand Slam in the Six Nations Tournament, talk about the perfect course of the XV of France in the competition with, as a highlight, the possibility to pull off the perfect tournament. If everyone believes in it, it is thanks in particular to a team that makes more than one dream of it.
“I really have a big crush on this team because they fight on the pitch, they give everything, they wet the shirt. That’s what we like. We are chauvinists and what is what they make us happy when we see them”begins Harinordoquy, winner of the Tournament five times with three Grand Slams. “We are no longer talking about starters or substitutes because we also have a bench that hurts. There are a lot of strong players coming in and that’s important too.”
Dimitri Yachvili follows suit: “Seeing a team play rugby well simply is what is difficult. This team does it. We like pragmatism and efficiency but we also like madness. That’s what makes us good French people. ” Yannick Jauzion, three-time winner of the Six Nations Tournament, with two Grand Slams, also praises it: “It’s a very young group. We feel that there is a complementarity, a state of mind that has been created and it makes a solid group. We feel that they are conquerors with this desire to move forward .”
Confident for the future, like his former teammates, Imanol Harinordoquy thinks the game against Wales will be decisive and concludes: “It’s the start of a generation and I think we’re going to hear about it for a long time. What they really miss is winning together because when they know they can win together, nothing else can help them. Stop.”
