Île-de-France: the dilapidation of high schools affects more than one in five establishments

They chose humor to denounce the state of their high schools, in addition to the demonstrations. “We’re not supposed to beg for resources for our schools“, summarizes a student. Several high schools in Île-de-France are also dilapidated. Teachers even publish videos of rodents in the corridors of a high school in Saint-Denis.
150 establishments in the Ile-de-France region considered dilapidated
The region that oversees the renovation of buildings. She says she is fully mobilized. “Much larger budgets would be needed if we wanted to repair quickly and restore and improve all the high schools that deserve to be quickly”, explains Didier Georges, principal belonging to the SNPDEN union. The Île-de-France region has the largest number of high schools in France. According to an audit, out of 465 establishments, 150 are considered dilapidated. Six billion euros have been credited for the repairs, but the work is slow.
