Digital transition | The new SAAQ platform now online

The suspension of the services of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), which has been causing users several headaches since January, is now over. Since Monday, citizens can migrate to SAAQClic, a platform that aims to be easier to use and safer.

SAAQClic was indeed officially inaugurated Monday at the start of the day, without fanfare. To implement its new platform, the company had to “convert more than 10 billion pieces of data” in 15,000 steps, which has resulted in a tough transition period in recent weeks, during which customers had access to a limited number of services.

This period had begun in January, to be spread over several weeks. Around 400 employees made this transition, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

To access the site, you must first create an account on the Government Authentication Service (SAG), which the government wants to gradually implement over the next few years to allow users to interact with all departments in the same place. , in a safe manner.

To register, you will need to have on hand a social insurance number, a health insurance number, a driver’s license reference number and a Revenu Québec notice of assessment number dating back two years or less.

This new project represents an important first test for Quebec, because the Legault government plans to integrate many other ministerial bodies into the SAG in 2023, which will eventually replace clicSÉQUR. In other words, it is quite possible that other transitions of the genre will occur this year.

Speaking of a “major improvement in our organization’s service offering,” SAAQ CEO Denis Marsolais said he especially thanked customers “for their patience and understanding throughout this important modernization process.” . “Other online services will be gradually added to improve service delivery and meet customer needs even more,” he promised.

During the transition, only certain essential services remained accessible in order to migrate to the new system. Among them: checking the validity of a licence, replacing a lost or stolen licence, exchanging a foreign licence, checking the conformity of a road vehicle, booking practical driving tests and paying for the renewal of a license or registration.

The new SAAQClic platform should now make it possible to carry out administrative requests which until now had to go through a physical office, with the aim of reducing waiting times and delays between requests. You can renew your license, pay for your registration, sell your vehicle or make an appointment for a driving test.
