Difficult traffic this weekend | The Honoré-Mercier Bridge adds to the puzzle

An even more difficult weekend is coming on the roads of Greater Montreal. In addition to the complete closure of the A25 South for preparatory work for the major repair of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, there will be obstructions on the Honoré-Mercier bridge next weekend.

The Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable is announcing partial obstructions on the Honoré-Mercier bridge on Sunday, October 30. Only one lane per direction will be open between Kahnawake and Montreal for slab repair.

These obstacles are in addition to the complete closure of the A25 towards the South Shore, between exit 5 and the entrance to Île Charron, from 11:30 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. In addition, all weekend, Souligny Avenue will be closed in both directions, between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand streets.

The A25 South will also be closed between exit 4 to downtown Montreal and the entrance from Île Charron, every evening from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., until October 28.

Closure of the A25 South Souligny sector

These obstacles are part of the preparatory work for the new configuration of the tracks in the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel. As of October 31, only one lane will remain open on the A25 South and two will be open towards Montreal. This imposing project will be in place until November 2025.

Traffic on the Victoria Bridge remains limited to one lane due to maintenance work on its structure.

The hindrances planned for this weekend are likely to be severely felt on the Samuel-De Champlain and Jacques-Cartier bridges. Already, last weekend, traffic on both infrastructures had increased. The Department encourages the public to get information from Québec 511 to plan their trips.
