After gasoline, it’s diesel’s turn. The price of road diesel sold in France rose above 2 euros on average in France last week, according to figures from the Ministry of Ecological Transition published on Monday June 13 and closed on Friday. Despite the government rebate at the pump of 18 cents, diesel thus reached 2.0694 euros per liter, a jump of more than 10 cents compared to the previous week.

Diesel had already passed above this symbolic threshold in mid-March and at the end of March, before falling again in the meantime. Its price had been rising for two weeks. It reached 1.9615 euros on average at the beginning of June.

On the gasoline side, the price of the super SP95-E10, which had reached the record price of 2.1012 euros per liter on average the week of May 30 to June 3, remains stable, down slightly to 2.0960 euros. The SP98 has already exceeded 2 euros for a month. It reached last week 2.1989 euros on average in France.

The hike comes amid rising global energy prices amid war in Ukraine, supply difficulties and runaway inflation, as the European Union prepares to halt oil purchases and Russian diesel.
