Diasteme is interested in politics in “The world of yesterday”

Diasteme’s latest film has a taste of topicality. And looking at it is like diving into the mysteries of power. In this cinematographic work entitled yesterday’s world, released in theaters on March 30, 2022, the director is interested in the rise of the far right at the polls. “We thought that given the subject, it was better that it come out before the elections“, explains Diastema.

This is not the first time that the director has taken an interest in the extreme right. A few years ago, he made a film about a skinhead. This time, it is the other side that is observed. The action of the film centers around an outgoing president who does not represent herself, played by Léa Drucker. But a few days before the first round, his adviser, camped by Denis Podalydès, informs him that a scandal will splash his designated successor in favor of a far-right candidate. “I felt like dealing with this under the order of the Elizabethan drama“, concludes the director who had “the idea of ​​making it a thriller but also something that is of the order of Greek tragedy, Gothic tale and moral tale“.
