Exit R’Bonney Gabriel, the Nicaraguan Sheynnis Palacios was elected Miss Universe 2023 this Saturday, November 18 during the 72nd edition of the famous beauty contest organized in San Salvador, El Salvador. A disappointment for Diane Leyre, Miss France 2022, who was among the big favorites. “Unfortunately, it’s not for us this year”, she confided on social networks after learning that she was not even in the top 20.
“I gave the best of myself to try to represent you. Unfortunately, the stage got to me. From the beginning, you know, the stage is not my thing. I tried, I ‘worked, it’s not for me’, she added before explaining that a health problem had prevented her from giving the best of herself. “I had an accident with my eye. They put micellar water in it and I’m allergic. I can only blame myself for not being good at the preliminaries.”

A positive attitude
Despite her career being heavily criticized on the Web, Diane Leyre also took the opportunity to thank all the people behind her candidacy. “France has never been so supported and that’s a great pleasure […]. Having been on the Miss Universe stage is already a success. I come from very far away. I’m already super proud to be there, to have been one of the favorites for a very long time, to have received so much support and to forever be your Miss France no matter what. I send you a big hug, we keep smiling and we support the rest of the candidates.” A speech which provoked strong reactions.
