(Brussels) Canada won two bronze medals in athletics at the Diamond League on Saturday.
Alysha Newman finished third in the women’s pole vault, while Marco Arop did the same in the men’s 800 meters.
Newman won bronze at the Paris Olympics, while Arop took silver.
Australia’s Nina Kennedy, who won pole vault gold at the Summer Games, once again finished on the top step of the podium.
Sandi Morris of the United States finished second.
Newman set a national record by winning Canada’s first pole vault medal with an Olympic bronze, with a clearance of 4.85 metres.
The 30-year-old from London cleared 4.80m on his second attempt on Saturday.
However, she failed to clear 4.88 m in three attempts.
Arop, a 25-year-old from Edmonton, finished the 800m in 1:43.25.
Olympic gold medalist Emmanuel Wanyonyi of Kenya finished first with a time of 1:42.70.
Djamel Sedjati, beaten by Arop for silver in Paris, finished second in 1:42.87.
