D’heygère farm in Wacquemoulin in the Oise

The D’Heygère family moved to the farm in Wacquemoulin in the Oise in 1957. First taken over by their son Pascal, it is now Lucie’s turn to join the family business.

Since her return from Norway where she worked for 4 years as a landscape engineer, Lucie D’Heygere uses his knowledge to continue the development of the farm towards agroecology.

Between father and daughter the approach is different. He, a great nature observer, had noticed that in winter some birds no longer had space to protect themselves from predators, he had started to plant trees here and there. But it is Lucie who will drive a more scientific approach to agroecology. Hedges will be planted around each plot.

On the family farm, cereals and legumes are grown together. When a year is bad for one, it is good for another.

Today, different varieties of lentils are grown: green lentils, rozana lentils, blond lentils, beluga lentils and pink lentils. Rye and buckwheat give good flour and camelina an excellent oil.
