DFCO: Quentin Renaud, the new “capo” of the Bolds

Fans who have been to Stade Gaston Gérard this season may have seen it, or at least heard it. The others have surely discovered it in the latest issue of “DFCO Mag”. Since September 2021, Quentin Renaud, 23 years old, is the “capo” of the historic group of supporters of the Bold, installed in the South stand of the Sports Park. The young man, a member of the group for seven years, responsible for launching the songs and animating the platform with his megaphone, was the guest of 100% DFCO on Monday January 24, 2022.

FBB: What is the role of the “capo”?

The role of the “capo” is to launch songs and bring life to the stands behind the players. It’s the best role, I love it. I can launch the songs I want, the goal is to animate the whole platform. We are a group of reckless people, but the goal is to get the whole South stand up to push them.

How did you become a “capo”?

I was still in Les Téméraires, I was singing. Against Toulouse (at the end of August 2021, defeat 4-2 Editor’s note), where we were leading 1-0 before being joined, we were extinct. I started pitching chants with my voice. And at the end of the match, I was offered to become a capo on the next game.

The idea is also to rejuvenate, to revitalize this group of Bold?

Exactly, that’s what they asked me. The goal is for the platform to live again. People who know me can attest to this, I’m a little crazy. Sometimes, I don’t stay on my stage, I don’t hesitate to go up and down the stairs to show people that you have to sing, that you shouldn’t be shy, that no one is going to judge them.

People who know me can testify, I’m a little crazy

It is true that for certain matches, it is not easy, in addition we have the misfortune to find the gauges – against QRM, it was not the most pleasant match in history. And it’s true that sometimes it’s complicated to make everyone sing, iThey therefore asked me to rejuvenate all this and put a little madness.

Have you created or covered new songs since you became “capo”?

I try to vary the songs a bit. I mainly took some from those I hear on TV. I took up some Lyonnais songs: “Lyonnais supporters…” and then people repeat. Or “we will only sing for you”. I try to innovate and have everyone follow me without it being too complicated so everyone can follow me too.

And it’s not just the songs, there are also “animations”…

“Who does not jump is not Dijonnais”, I tried to throw it after the goals. And it’s good because the whole gallery is playing the game, the kids love it, and it’s really fun.

With the winter and the gauges, the stands are sparse (3000 people against QRM). Isn’t that too discouraging?

Already, it’s not easy in normal times, because it’s true that there are a lot of “spectators” in Dijon, which is a bit revolting for us “supporters”. In addition, with the gauges and the cold, it’s complicated but we’re doing our best. The goal is really for the players to hear us.

For the next home game, February 12 against Pau, there will be no gauge. It is a relief ?

The stadium needs to live. For a good year and a half, we had a lot of difficulties on the sporting level, there we manage to go up in the rankings, we have the opportunity to be competitive in Toulouse whereas a few months ago no one would have bet on it. . We have to come against Pau, because if we want to be play-offs (at least 5th in L2, editor’s note) you have to win all the games at home, it’s imperative. Come, the players need us and for the moment they give it back to us!

The Lingon’s Boys, who don’t come with the gauges, could make their return to the North Stand opposite yours. Would you like the two stands to respond to each other more, as we see for example in Marseille at the Stade Vélodrome?

I never understood why they did not resume our “at Arms”, which we are used to doing at the start of matches. The song “Supporters Lyonnais…” where people repeat, we could do it between the groups. I find it a shame, whereas we, often, when their songs take over the whole stadium and we hear them, we follow them. We are two different groups of course, we certainly have different visions of the supporter, but the goal is that we are one. and we push the “Reds”.

Have you discussed it with the Lingon’s Boys?

No, I haven’t had the chance. It is possible that I will.
