Detroit Red Wings | Lucas Raymond signs eight-year, $64.6 million contract

The Detroit Red Wings settled one of their two major issues on Monday by signing forward Lucas Raymond to an eight-year, $64.6 million contract.

The 22-year-old Swede, who was a restricted free agent, will earn an average of $8.075 million per campaign.

Raymond had the best season of his career last year with 72 points, including 31 goals, in 82 games.

In 238 games in the Bettman circuit, he amassed 71 goals and 103 assists for 174 points.

With three days until the Red Wings open training camp, general manager Steve Yzerman has another major item to deal with.

Defenseman Moritz Seider, the 2021-22 Calder Trophy winner, remains without a contract.

In his first three campaigns with the Red Wings, the 23-year-old German scored 134 points, including 21 goals, in 246 games.

Earlier Monday, the Red Wings also announced they had signed forward Jonatan Berggren to a one-year, $825,000 contract.

In 12 NHL games last season, the 24-year-old Swede had six points, including two goals.
