A man who appeared to shoot at random for about two and a half hours in Detroit, killing three and injuring one, was arrested Sunday night after a manhunt.
Detroit Police Chief James White did not immediately release more information about the suspect or his arrest. He had said earlier that investigators believed the shootings were random, as there was no apparent connection between the victims.
First, a woman in her 40s was shot multiple times around 4:45 a.m. Sunday. As officers investigated the fatal shooting, a witness reported that a 28-year-old man was killed nearby.
A third victim, another woman in her 40s, was found nearby. She died after being shot several times too.
At approximately 7:10 a.m., an elderly man reported seeing a man scanning vehicles. When told to get away from the cars, the gunman opened fire on the old man, who survived.
Detroit Police Chief and Mayor Mike Duggan on Sunday urged residents to be alert.
