On Twitter, lawyer Gilles-William Goldnadel questions the seriousness of the latest IPCC report: “Contrary to what we want you to believe, the people of the IPCC are not scientists”.
For several days, many commentators have relayed the alarming findings of the latest IPCC report, published on April 4. The intergovernmental group of experts on climate change believes that if humanity wants to “guarantee a livable future”, it must as quickly as possible profoundly transform the modes of production and consumption.
Not enough to worry lawyer Gilles-William Goldnadel, who questions the seriousness of these observations. ” Contrary to what we want you to believe, the people of the IPCC are not scientists », he says on Twitter.
Who are the specialists behind the latest IPCC report? In all, 278 authors from 65 countries and 354 collaborating authors who analyzed more than 18,000 publications. Among these experts are scientists who are experts in climate, renewable energies, but also other profiles, in particular economists.
This working group is led by Professor Jim Skea, Professor of Renewable Energy at Imperial College London and Priyadarshi R. Shukla, Professor at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
Alongside them, seven vice-presidents from different backgrounds provide guidance to the Group on the scientific and technical aspects and specialists provide technical support. The entire report has been subject to numerous proofreadings by experts and governments in order to guarantee the accuracy of the information presented. That the report is also a political gesture does not mean that it is not based on science.
