Where does the intox come from?

On February 24 in the evening, a tweet, seen nearly 2 million times, relays a summons letter from a police officer to the IGPN, the police force. “My son, who has been a CRS for 13 years, received this letter… He therefore risks being punished for the simple reasons of having responded to attacks and of having wanted to animate the life of his brigade. A country that does not support its law enforcement is a sick country,” read the comment. Photo in support, the summons describes facts all more caricatural than the others. Among which: that of having, during a demonstration, injured a baby and “of having lied by invoking self-defense”. In the comments, Internet users take this letter to the first degree, wishing that the police officer be sanctioned.

Why is this wrong?

This tweet comes from an influential account, accustomed to the second degree and viral hoaxes. The day after, National Police Twitter account nevertheless deemed it useful to deny, denouncing “a false letter of summons to the IGPN against a policeman relayed in a humorous way”. And to add: “Even the second degree and humor deserve a minimum of discernment and responsibility.”

With Désintox, the author of the joke confirms: “It is obviously a false letter, I have already made several. There was no other intention than to make people laugh. He adds, regarding the reaction of the police: “It’s quite absurd all that.” Some Internet users are surprised and point the finger at “the anti-humor police”. Others note: “The parody accounts have better watch out.”
