Where does the intox come from?

On Twitter, a screenshot, published in mid-January, is experiencing new virality. It takes the form of a tweet from Le Monde, announcing that the journalist from C to You, on France 5, is about to be named a Knight of the Legion of Honor.
A distinction rewarding the “eminent merits of exercises, for at least twenty years, of activities for the benefit of the general interest and the Nation”.
Quickly, sarcastic, even insulting comments abound.
Internet users mock in particular “the legion of dishonor”, others point to the alleged submission of public service to the government.
The Internet user who first relays the capture presents himself as an “early LREM member” and indicates that he “saw this publication circulating on the Telegram loops of Renaissance sympathizers”. However, all his tweets contain a parody dimension worthy of an anti-Macron troll.

Why is this wrong?

This screenshot does not link to any tweets. Nor any article published on the Le Monde site. This was confirmed by the management of the newspaper at Désintox.

For its part, the Grand Chancellery of the Legion of Honor ensures that Patrick Cohen has not been named in either of the two annual promotions. As for the main interested party, he refutes any distinction to come: “It’s a fake, he tells us. Le Monde has published nothing of the sort! And there is no question that I accept a decoration!”
