The detonations heard Tuesday evening in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough, at a place where two friends of Thomas Trudel were, would have nothing to do with the murder of the latter, indicated to The Press sources who are not authorized to speak to journalists.

Thomas Trudel, 16, was shot dead after being arrested by an individual in an alley in the north of the metropolis last November. This crime has not yet been solved. Before being killed, Thomas Trudel was with friends in a park.
However, two of them, aged 17, were at the intersection of boulevard Gouin Est and rue de Lille, on the edge of the Île-de-la-Visitation nature park, around 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.
The two young people would have crossed two other individuals and looks would have been exchanged. Subsequently, one of the other two individuals pulled out a firearm, probably loaded with blank bullets according to our sources, and fired a few shots, causing Thomas Trudel’s two friends to flee.
“The presence of two friends of Thomas Trudel is a coincidence, and has nothing to do with the latter’s murder,” we were told.
Thomas Trudel, whose murder shocked the province, was reportedly shot at random, victim of a phenomenon called scoring, had revealed The Press last November.
Young people around the victim had mentioned a rivalry between two cliques associated with two secondary schools in the boroughs of Saint-Michel and Saint-Léonard.
