Monday, February 13, 2023, TF1 decided to bring out the heavy artillery to satisfy its viewers. Tonight, the famous channel will broadcast the hit feature film “Asterix and Obelix versus Caesar” unveiled in 1999. On the screen, great stars of the 7ᵉ art give the reply. Like Gérard Depardieu who embodies Obélix or Christian Clavier who plays the role of Asterix. Michel Galabru or even Laetitia Casta are also in the game.
Putting this project in a box was easy for director Claude Zidi. But doing it also made him immensely proud. For our colleagues from TV 7 days, the main interested party remembered the key moments of the shooting. Obviously, Gérard Depardieu had the merit of marking him at all levels. “Gérard is a Terminator: whatever happens, he ends the film! He ended up limping. The cause? A serious motorcycle accident”, said Claude Zidi. And to add very intrigued: “After 40 days off, this force of nature came back to become Obelix: he started eating like an ogre and drinking red wine. What energy… He is indestructible!”.

On a daily basis, the ex-companion of Carole Bouquet took pleasure in teasing his colleague Pierre Palmade who was also part of the cast. “Perched in his tree with his lyre, he rested between scenes on a stepladder”said Claude Zidi. “Each time Depardieu passed, he kicked in…”. Situation that several times gave cold sweats to the entire film crew: “Pierre found himself hanging from a branch with his safety rope”, concluded the screenwriter relieved that no drama was to be deplored.
