Why the Northvolt factory on the banks of the Richelieu, several thousand years old? I have just read the excellent article by Mr. Pierre Pontbriand on page A 6 of the newspaper The duty published on January 19, entitled “An archaic way of seeing development with Northvolt”.
Have we even thought for a minute about the ecological impact of this battery factory along the Richelieu? As residents, we strive to protect this river to avoid its erosion linked largely to the speed of boats and other motorized boats which navigate between Saint-Denis and Beloeil (bill in progress to reduce destructive waves) , ensure and maintain biodiversity, in particular the endangered species specific to Richelieu: the copper redhorse. Having lived on the banks of this magnificent river for more than six years, we are able to see the extreme fragility of the banks. So, imagine for a moment this monster of Northvolt which must be built between McMasterville and Saint-Basile-le-Grand!
Quebec is large enough to build this factory elsewhere, especially when China is preparing to sell its electric cars at a third of the price of a Tesla! Another white elephant to be classified in the same directory as Mirabel. Yes, how sad!
