“In a few days, the agents, the companies did an extraordinary job. So much so that from Monday (May 30), classes were able to resume”, rejoices François Bonneau, the president of the Centre-Val-de-Loire region. The courses are held, the exams will be able to take place, the restoration works again. A week after the bad weather that hit the Indre, causing heavy damage in Châteauroux and the surrounding towns, the president of the regional council came see the extent of the damage in schools and report on the work to be done.
The Charmilles trades high school largely affected
The Charmilles trades high school was particularly affected. Lhe boarding school is closed today, because of the damage. Boarding students are therefore accommodated in nearby establishments, at the Pierre and Marie Curie high school, as well as at the Blaise Pascal high school. Finally, many windows and tiles were damaged. In other high schools, such as Blaise Pascal high school, gymnasiums also had to close. “They are not usable today because the soils have been very largely moistened”he continues.
Work is therefore in progress, while all the students of these high schools have returned to the classrooms. “We are going to work hard so that everything is completely restored by September 1defends the regional president. However, for the craftsmen, you know today the great difficulty of the supply of materials. So, either the craftsmen were able to find the final material, and on September 1, everything is over… Either it wasn’t possible, so there we will put temporary solutions in place. And when the material, the slate tile, the steel deck, etc. will be available, at that time, we will go back to work, and we will quickly make the final version.”
