Despite his reluctance towards the platform | YouTuber MrBeast joins X

(San Francisco) Until now reluctant to join welcome accelerator to the platform.

“I’m curious to see how much ad revenue a video can generate on X so I’m reposting this to test. I will say more about advertising revenue next week,” explains MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, the most followed YouTuber on the planet with more than 230 million subscribers, in a video tweeted Monday evening.

The video, in which the influencer tests several sports cars, was seen by almost 50 million people just 14 hours after being posted online.

While Elon Musk last month sought to encourage him to join his network, MrBeast estimated that even a billion views on X “would not be enough to finance even a part” of its production costs.

“But I’m ready to test this as soon as monetization starts,” he added in a tweet.

The arrival on the social network of MrBeast was welcomed by the general director of X, Linda Yaccarino, who recalled having signed several agreements last week with personalities in the United States.

“We are building a real video ecosystem in real time… Who’s next? », she published on her X account.

X has signed agreements with former CNN presenter Don Lemon, former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and radio host Jim Rome.

Another notable catch is Tucker Carlson, one of conservative America’s most influential voices who launched a show on X last year just after he was fired by Fox.

Mr. Carlson, however, announced that he would launch his own video streaming service this year.

Elon Musk bought the network in 2022, renamed streaming and online shopping site.

But his decisions at the head of the company have above all caused a drop in the number of users as well as the departure of many companies, who no longer wish to finance advertising on X.

Elon Musk has bitterly criticized advertisers, saying they could sink his company.

But their exodus accelerated when the billionaire approved messages mixing anti-Semitism and conspiracy theories on the platform.
