Tensions remain between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah. Exchanges of fire have taken place daily since October 7. Nearly 100 people were killed during these clashes, eight on the Israeli side and at least 90 on the Lebanese side.

In southern Lebanon, villages bordering Israel are abandoned. Since the start of clashes between the IDF and the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah a month ago, exchanges of fire have been daily. According to the UN, 29,000 people left their homes to take refuge further north. In one village, residents can see Israeli military positions, despite the constant danger, some refuse to leave. This is the case for olive oil producers, who do not want to lose their season’s harvest.

The olive, one of the main sources of income

We stayed here during the 2006 war and we plan to stay here today. We have worked hard to build our houses, how can we leave them? We won’t leave“, says Nawal Jallad, resident of Ain Ebel. In a neighboring village, an oil mill is running at full capacity. Olives are one of the main sources of income for residents in the region.
