The deputy of the National Rally Grégoire de Fournas is excluded for 15 days from the hemicycle, the most severe sanction for a deputy, announced the National Assembly, Friday, November 4. He is also deprived of half of the parliamentary allowance for two months.
On Friday November 4, MPs from the majority, the right and the left voted in unison to exclude the MP of the Grégoire de Fournas National Rally for 15 days. Only the far right supported the elected official, who yesterday made racist remarks. The parliamentary allowance of the deputy, who was absent from hemicycle on Friday, was also reduced by half for two months.
This is only the second time that such a decision has been taken since 1958. Marine Le Pen denounces it. “This is a procedure where you are judged by your political adversaries who, in reality, judge your political ideas. We are totally moving away from freedom of expression, democracy“, lambasted the president of the RN group in the National Assembly. For its part, La France insoumise demands the resignation of Grégoire de Fournas. In the constituency of the latter, in Gironde, some voters condemn his attitude, but not all. “It’s unacceptable, we shouldn’t say that at all in an Assembly“says a resident, while another says he does not “don’t think it’s exceptional”.
