The attack would have occurred on the ground floor of the building of his deputy office, located on boulevard des Laurentides, in Laval, according to information from The Press. Two young men are said to have “punched the face” of the MP for Vimont.

On social networks, Jean Rousselle first took on the Minister of Public Security, Geneviève Guilbault. “For several weeks, I have been calling out to @GGuilbaultCAQ regarding the violence in Quebec,” he tweeted at 4:20 p.m. Monday.

The life of Mr. Rousselle, also the official opposition critic for public security, is not in danger. “I’m doing well despite the blows to the face that I suffered,” he tweeted. We must act to protect the population. »

Quebec Liberal Party leader Dominique Anglade quickly offered her support on Twitter. “It is with great concern that I learned that @RousselleJean was the victim of a violent attack, she wrote at the end of the day. Fortunately, he escapes unscathed. »

Mme Anglade added to the increase in violence in the province: “The rise in violence in recent years in Quebec is particularly worrying. »
