Hectic week in the ranks of La France insoumise. LFI deputies defended themselves from having “procrastinated” on the withdrawal of their colleague Adrien Quatennens, due to domestic violence, during the back-to-school press conference of the political group at the Assembly, Tuesday 20 September. However, they admitted “To grope” still dealing with the management of cases of gender-based violence within the movement.

“No one dithered to say that Adrien Quatennens should be put on hold”assured the press the deputy LFI Clémentine Autain, questioned on the fact that Jean-Luc Mélenchon had reiterated his “trust” to the young MP, sparking internal criticism.
To manage cases of gender-based violence, “we are trying to put mechanisms in place, it is not perfect”admitted the deputy, considering it necessary “to work further on these issues and perhaps in a transpartisan way”. The member for Seine-Saint-Denis, however, considered that it was necessary to recognize the “complexity” such situations, which require respecting the presumption of innocence of the defendants, taking into account the human difficulty of dealing with the case of “comrades” or even respect for the victims.
“Yes, we assume that we are fumbling, that it is a difficult question”, declared LFI MP Danièle Obono. “We assume to have failures, not to have a perfect protocol.”
The elected representative of the 17th district of Paris stressed that the LFI deputies were going to attend a training “obligatory” on sexist and sexual violence during their parliamentary days scheduled for Thursday and Friday to prepare for the return to parliament.
