Failing to have been able to demonstrate their generosity on the floor, the Carolos Flames proved it through a solidarity action. This Wednesday, January 19, the basketball players of Charleville-Mézières were to receive the Turks of Çukurova Mersin for the round of 16 first leg of the Eurocup. The meeting was canceled at the last moment due to cases of Covid in the Ardennes workforce.
Consequence: the 400 meals which were to be served to the partners were not consumed. Missed shot but the Flames are on the rebound. Throughout the day on Thursday, employees repackaged the meal trays to be able to redistribute them to charities. From preparation to delivery, the captain of Les Flammes Carolos, Amel Bouderra, was particularly involved in this action.

To the dishes of the caterer “L’Auberge du Cheval blanc” were added donations from Promocash, Cora and the Efes kebab from Charleville-Mézières. Some of the food was delivered to the Ardennes branch of Restos du Coeur.
The Flammes Carolo delegation also went to the Houillère district to offer 60 meals to the “Tenants of Planet Earth” association. The vice-president, Mohamed Ayadi, redistributed them the same evening to the inhabitants of the district who already attend the association and to the Home for young workers.
Last stop, a hotel in the city center of Charleville-Mézières where 15 unaccompanied foreign minors. “Meals are at their expense so it will be a plus compared to their usual meal“, emphasizes the boss.
From the distribution of toys to hospitalized children for the “Stars de Champagne” association to the collection of sanitary napkins for women in precarious situations, the Flammes Carolo are customs of the outpouring of generosity. These values of solidarity are so anchored in the DNA of the club that it has given rise to the “Flammes de Coeur” program within it, established as an association since 2019.
