Fadila Khattabi, Minister Delegate for the Elderly and People with Disabilities, was the guest of France 2’s “4 Truths” on Friday March 1.

There will be something new in nursing homes, which welcome dependent elderly people. “A new right will be granted to them: namely that they will now be able to bring with them, when they go to a nursing home, their pet”explains Fadila Khattabi, Minister Delegate for the Elderly and People with Disabilities, guest of France 2’s “4 Truths”, Friday 1er March.

Animals accepted: “Dogs, cats, goldfish, the little canary”

This seems possible in public nursing homes, but what will it be in private nursing homes? “There are no half measures, the law applies to everyone. This new right will also apply to private nursing homes”develops Fadila Khattabi.

Which animals will be affected? “We are going to be pragmatic and realistic, […] if the person has an animal such as a boa, they will not be able to integrate the nursing home”, specifies the Minister Delegate in charge of the Elderly and People with Disabilities. She mentions in particular, as animals possibly accepted, “dogs, cats, goldfish, the little canary”.

What will be the implementation deadline? “As soon as the law is passed, immediately behind it there will be the decree, I will ensure that it is applied very quickly”, indicates Fadila Khattabi. So in the light of spring, “Normally”confides the delegate minister.
