Denis Shapovalov loses to Michael Mmoh in straight sets, second round

Canadian Denis Shapovalov lost in the second round to American Michael Mmoh 5-7, 6-3, 3-6 at Delray Beach on Wednesday.

Shapovalov, 27e at the ATP, was playing his first match in the tournament, enjoying a first-round bye. However, he had to admit defeat against 87e world player, thus suffering a third consecutive defeat.

The Ontarian hit four aces and 30 game winners, but also conceded four double faults and 30 unforced errors. Mmoh had two aces and five double faults, but he also converted three of his five break points.

Mmoh will therefore face his compatriot Mackenzie McDonald in the quarter-finals.
