Canadian tennis player Denis Shapovalov has contracted COVID-19.
This is what he announced on his Twitter account on Saturday.
“Hello everybody. I wanted to warn you that I tested positive for COVID-19 when I arrived in Sydney. I follow protocol to the letter, which includes isolation and warning of people I have been in contact with, ”he wrote.
“Right now I have minor symptoms and can’t wait to be back on the pitch when it is safe to do so. Thank you in advance for your support and I wish you a great holiday season, ”added the 22-year-old Ontarian.
Shapovalov is due to represent Canada at the ATP Cup soon. His first clash in this competition is scheduled for Saturday, January 1, against American John Isner.
