Denis Lavaud, master ice cream maker and founder of L’Angélys ice cream in Fontcouverte

Denis Lavaud, master ice cream maker and creator of “l’Angélys” ice cream in 1996 in Saint Jean d’Angély, is not a business manager to keep both feet in the same shoe. After moving the site of his business to Fontcouverte near Saintes, he has just opened four shops in strategic locations in Charente-Maritime.

In more than 25 years of activity, the rule has remained the same: Use only natural materials without adding artificial flavors or colorings; and this is what the public can discover in the ladies’ course in La Rochelle, in Saint Martin on the Ile de Ré, Royan Pontaillac and on the port of La Cotinière on the Ile d’Oléron. Among the novelties of the Charentais ice cream parlor, an amber beer ice cream made with a Royan brewery that mixes beer and fresh cream that Denis Lavaud recommends tasting with French toast.
