Denis Coderre was a consultant for the Selection Group

The former mayor of Montreal, Denis Coderre, is or was a consultant for Selection Group, currently under the protection of the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA), has learned The newspaper.

In fact, the name of the candidate defeated in the last municipal elections appears on the list of 785 creditors awaiting payment from the Laval real estate group, which specializes in the construction, ownership and management of private residences for seniors (RPA).

Riddled with debt, as of November 14, the company of businessman Réal Bouclin was facing debts of 904.1 million dollars. Hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses may never receive the money they are owed for the services they have rendered.

Among them is entrepreneur Denis Coderre, struggling with a shortfall of $11,497.50 from Groupe Sélection, according to documents from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), which acts as controller in the file.

Reached by telephone, Mr. Coderre hung up before we were even able to submit the slightest question to him.

“It’s valuable, my friend. […] I don’t answer, and (sic) I don’t talk to journalists. I am a citizen now. Good day,” he said, before ending the interview abruptly.

However, according to our information, the invoices of the former mayor relate to consulting services for Groupe Sélection, related in particular to the obtaining of permits by the RPA giant from the City of Montreal.

Before or after 2021?

Very well. But did “the consultant” Coderre work for the Selection Group before or after the November 2021 election? The first interested party flatly refused to speak to us. Joined by the Journal, the management of Selection claimed for its part that it could not enlighten us.

It will be remembered that after having refused for a long time, the political opponent of Mayor Valérie Plante had finally agreed to name the companies for which he had obtained contracts after his defeat in 2017.

The names of Cogir, Eurostar, the International Automobile Federation, the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, Omega Park, Stingray, Studio Félix & Paul and TC Transcontinental had finally been revealed. At the time, however, the name of Groupe Sélection had never been mentioned.
