Wednesday May 1st is the opening day of the Paris Fair, an unmissable event for fans of inventions of all kinds. Cheese graters, citrus juicers, the product doesn’t matter as long as you have the right sales technique.

Through their chicanery, their power of persuasion, they are the very essence of the Paris Fair, which has 1,250 exhibitors this year. How to stand out and encourage visitors to take out their wallets? For young yacon syrup sellers, the fair is a great first. But despite the 5,000 euros spent, the location is not ideal.

Humor and spectacle

Laurent Fayet has been selling his can openers for 24 years. His trump cards: familiarity and jokes. Little touches of humor that hit the mark. “The need was created by the demonstration”, concedes a buyer. More than a demonstration, it is sometimes a supercharged spectacle, like that of Nelson Mourad, who puts incredible energy into selling his juice extractor. The price is only revealed at the end of the show.
