Nearly 300 people marched from Parc Léo Lagrange to the city center of Reims this Saturday to protest against far-right ideas. A demonstration organized on the occasion of the arrival of Marine Le Pen, candidate of the National Rally for the next presidential election, at the city’s exhibition center.
About fifteen associations or organizations had called to mobilize, a few weeks before the election.
For many of these demonstrators, far-right ideas, in particular embodied by the candidacies of Marine Le Pen and that of Eric Zemmourbecome commonplace: “ We see that these ideas are spreading throughout society, and that other parties are running after the Frontist votes, not only to take up elements of language, but also concrete proposals from the programs of the extreme right. explains Elodie, an activist in the anti-fascist movement.
Ideas that are gaining ground
Observation shared by Annette, member of the movement Generations, who is worried that membership in these movements is increasingly assumed : “ Today people can calmly say that they are in favor of the extreme right, without knowing what is behind it. This idea that the foreigner can take our bread from us is a completely absurd idea. she denounces.
” It’s no joke: at some point, there are still characters who do harm, who convey bad words, and against that you have to fight, protests Karim. Everyone can have their ideas, their opinions, but there is a cap not to cross, that of hatred. »
