Several rallies of angry bikers took place across France on Saturday April 13. 10,000 demonstrators were present in Paris. They oppose the technical inspection of two-wheelers, compulsory from April 15.

A procession of several thousand bikers on the Paris ring road poured into the streets of the capital on Saturday April 13. A show of force to oppose the technical inspection of motorized two-wheel vehicles. More than 10,000 demonstrators gathered, according to the organizers, in the west of Paris at midday. Many motorcyclists say they will refuse to have their vehicle checked. They consider this reform ineffective for security and speak of tax racketeering. “We are entering into resistance, we are calling on bikers to boycott the technical inspection”assures Jean-Mars Belotti, coordinator of the French Federation of Angry Bikers of Paris.

Collector’s motorcycles exempt

A decree imposing the technical inspection of motorized two-wheelers, applied from Monday April 15, has angered bikers. It will be mandatory but spread over time between 2024 and 2026 depending on the age of the vehicle. The technicians will notably inspect the condition of the brakes, polluting and noise emissions, the condition of the steering wheels, handlebars and mirrors, but also the functioning of the wheels and suspensions. Collector’s or competition motorcycles will be exempt from inspection. According to bikers, it is more urgent to maintain the roads.
