After three days of lively protests which turned into riots on Tuesday, Kenyans were still in the streets on Wednesday, June 26, to denounce the actions of their government and its tax reform.

A third day of demonstration in a week, Wednesday June 26 in Kenya. Kenyans denounce the tax increases decided by their government. On Tuesday June 25, tension suddenly escalated when the crowd forced security barriers to enter the Parliament grounds. According to NGOs, the police then fired live ammunition, leaving at least 13 dead and 160 injured.

“They want to kill us”shout the residents, who brandish shell casings. “The President is not interested in us, he only acts for his personal ambition”, cries another. Demonstrators, mainly young people, managed to enter the building, ransacking the interior of the Senate and the National Assembly, and setting fire to official buildings. The head of state, who had already withdrawn most of the tax measures, promises severe repression.
