From Paris to Caen (Calvados) via Montpelier (Hérault) and Lyon (Rhône), many French people demonstrated against the far right on Saturday April 16. They were nearly 10,000 demonstrators in Paris, according to the police. Ten days before the second round, for some the vote is beyond doubt. “Emmanuel Macron, even if I don’t like it, we have no choice“, confides a young man. The procession, however, had several signs advocating the “ni-ni”. Voters indicate that they will abstain from voting.

In Lyon, young people who will vote Emmanuel Macron want to send a message. “We want to stop destroying the planet, we want to stop being racist, fascist, Islamophobic, we want to stop discrimination, and we would like a more social world“, confides a demonstrator. In Caen (Calvados), electoral cards were burned. In Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine), the police intervened to push back the procession. Other mobilizations hostile to Marine Le Pen are expected in the coming days.
