Nearly 105 statements of offense were issued by the Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG), which is one of the many police forces present at the scene of the “Freedom Convoy” demonstration in Ottawa.

More than 80 tickets were given to motorists present as part of the demonstration for “a variety of violations of the Highway Safety Code,” police said on their Twitter account on Saturday afternoon.
Of this total, around 20 statements were issued for “having used their horn unnecessarily”, which represents a fine of $173.
Among the other offenses reported, the SPVG reported tickets distributed for cellphones while driving, road prohibited for trucks, prohibited parking, non-compliant exhaust system, horn or tinted windows.
For its part, the Ottawa Police Service indicated that more than 50 criminal offenses are under investigation, including 11 for “hate crimes which resulted in charges against four people”.
“The police have responded to more than 400 calls for service related to the demonstrations since their beginning,” he also said on their Twitter account.
