The president of the National Center for Cinema and Animated Images is due to be tried in June for accusations of sexual assault on his 21-year-old godson, which he disputes.

More than a hundred people, including actress Judith Godrèche, gathered in Paris in front of the headquarters of the National Center for Cinema and Animated Images (CNC) to demand the resignation of its president Dominique Boutonnat, accused of attempted of rape and sexual assault, Monday May 13.

The leader of the organization which supervises the French seventh art is indicted for accusations of sexual assault and attempted rape of his 21-year-old godson in 2020. The producer, who denies these accusations, must be judged on the 14 June.
“Today we are witnessing a mobilization of the entire industry to address the issue of preventing and combating gender-based and sexual violence (…)”reminded AFP Fanny de Casimacker, general delegate of the Collective 50/50, which campaigns for equality, parity and diversity in the film and audiovisual industry. “So it is completely inconsistent that, in this dynamic, at the presidency of the CNC there is still a person who is accused of sexual assault”believes the representative.
The subject of sexual violence is also expected to dominate the Cannes Film Festival, which opens Wednesday May 15. Judith Godrèche will present the short film during the opening ceremony Me toowhich collects testimonies from men and women victims of sexual violence, and which will also be broadcast on Saturday May 25, the day of the closing ceremony, on Culturebox and france.tv.
