defrauded, he lost “a million” … a candidate for “The Voice” involved in the case

Available on the “Netflix” platform since February 2, the documentary “The Tinder Scammer” is at the heart of a real buzz. The program looks back on the actions of Simon Leviev, a 31-year-old man known worldwide for having scammed hundreds of young women he met on the Tinder dating application. Thanks to a well-crafted scheme, the man would have defrauded about 10 million from his companions, all over the world….
This Monday, February 7, Cyril Hanouna mentioned this documentary in the program “Touche pas à mon poste” and Benjamin Castaldi did not fail to come back to his own experience, he who was the victim of a scam a few years ago. .

Benjamin Castaldi loses a huge sum
“I was 19. I had just finished my studies and I wanted to relaunch the career of an Israeli singer called Esther Galil” remembered Benjamin Castaldi. “I meet the man who pretended to be his manager. I financed him, I took him to Los Angeles, I paid him his hotel, I paid him his plane tickets, cars…” explains- he. “After a while, I said to him: ‘But when are the contracts coming, when is the money going to come?'”. The false manager reassures him and Benjamin Castaldi continues to advance the money.

After a few days, the facilitator finally discovered the big scam: “One day, he had left the door of his room open, I arrive very slowly and I hear: ‘It’s good, Castaldi, I’ve completely rinsed. The operation is almost finished, I will be able to go home'”. Faced with his shocked colleagues, he continues: “The guy, he had invented a whole mytho for me and I completely fell into it quite willingly, but it was well put together.” declares the father of the family before revealing the amount of the sum lost: “one million francs” (which is equivalent to 150,000€). A jackpot which represented “the savings of a lifetime” and which came in particular from an inheritance.

A candidate for “The Voice” involved in spite of herself in the case
Against all odds, the singer Esther Ghalil mentioned in the case, rose to fame in France in the 1970s and notably provided the first parts of Michel Sardou’s concerts. If she lives in Los Angeles, she has actually tried to revive her career several times and participated in the show “The Voice” in 2013. Unfortunately her performance, which was a cover of her hit “Le jour se lève” did not didn’t convince the coaches who hadn’t turned around… not even Garou who had sung a cover of this cult song.
