He reaffirms his innocence. Definitively condemned in French law for rape and sexual assault on a collaborator, the former Secretary of State Georges Tron announced, Friday, December 10, his intention to seize the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) against the procedure he considers “so singular” against him.

“I reaffirm here today (…) that I am innocent of the charges brought against me”, declared Georges Tron in a press release sent from the town hall of Draveil (Essonne), which he led from 1995 until May.

The rejection on Wednesday of the appeal to the 64-year-old councilor made the five-year prison sentence final, including two suspended sentences, to which the Paris Assize Court condemned him on appeal in February. Since the verdict, the ex-elected LR has been incarcerated in the Health prison in Paris.

George Tron and his ex-cultural assistant in Draveil, Brigitte Gruel, were found guilty on appeal of having imposed touching and digital penetrations in November 2009 and January 2010 on a municipal employee under the guise of plantar reflexology sessions.
