Defenseman Dmitry Kulikov suspended two games by NHL

(New York) Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov was suspended two games by the NHL due to an illegal head check against Tampa Bay Lightning forward Conor Sheary.


The league announced the two-game suspension on Monday.

The sequence occurred 3:36 into the second period on Saturday in a 5-3 Lightning win. Kulikov received a game expulsion for his action.

The Panthers defenseman will lose $10,416.66 in salary due to his suspension. The money will go to an emergency aid fund for NHL players.
