AS Saint-Étienne therefore has its tenth summer recruit, the second formalized on Tuesday! After striker Ibrahima Wadji (from Qarabag, Azerbaijan), defender Léo Pétrot joins the club from Saint-Etienne.
Léo Pétrot is far from unknown at ASSE. Born in Firminy, with first balls touched at US Monistrol-sur-Loire, it was in Saint-Étienne that this defender (first left side then central defender) was trained, with a first professional contract signed in 2018.
Not retained at the end of the 2018/2019 season, Léo Pétrot joined Andrézieux and became captain there. In 2021, he joined FC Lorient, first to strengthen the professional team before winning with the first team in Ligue 1 (23 games, 1 goal).
Barred today by competition with the Hakes, Léo Pétrot therefore returns to the Greens with a coach he knows well, Laurent Batlles having already had him under his orders with the Saint-Etienne reserve.
“ASSE is my heart club, I am very happy to be here, says Léo Pétrot. Regardless of the division, my desire is to help the club achieve its goals. I can’t wait to find the supporters again and that we all have a great season together.”
