defender Clément Michelin ready to sign for Girondins de Bordeaux

They continue to jostle at the gate, the future recruits of the Girondins de Bordeaux, but still do not have the right to go on the lawn of Matmut Atlantique. After Yoann Barbet, Vital N’Simba, and Jonas Lössl, the Girondins de Bordeaux have reached an agreement with a fourth recruit: right-back defender Clément Michelin, as revealed by the newspaper L’Équipe. The 25-year-old is said to be on loan with an option to buy from Greek club AEK Athens to which he belongs.

Formed in Toulouse, where he started in Ligue 1 in 2016, Michelin has never been able to win in the Pink City, in particular because of injuries. Loaned to Ajaccio, in Ligue 2, for the 2018/2019 season, he finally revealed himself to Lens, still in Ligue 2 the following season. Indisputable holder during the rise of the Lensois in Ligue 1, he then obtained less playing time, before leaving for Greece in the summer of 2021.

Holder ahead of Bokélé, Louis-Jean and Kwateng?

Accustomed to the French youth teams, he participated in the Olympic Games in 2021 with the France team. Younger, he was also European U19 champion in 2016 with Kylian Mbappé, Issa Diop, Ludovic Blas, Amine Harit and … Enock Kwateng.

When the Girondins have succeeded in parting with players and lowering their payroll, Clément Michelin will therefore once again bring depth to the Bordeaux defense. On the right side, he should establish himself as a starter at the expense of Malcom Bokélé, a central defender who played – successfully – the first three games and the young Johaneko Louis-Jean. Enock Kwateng is removed from the professional group and invited to find a new club.
