I would have welcomed the innocent judgment Mike Ward if he had been accused of making fun of the artist, the singer Jérémy Gabriel.
If you stage yourself as a public figure, you are subject to all criticism; it is the risk of the profession. However, Mike Ward did not attack the public figure, but the physical condition of Jeremy Gabriel. He did not criticize the accuracy of his voice, his presence on stage, his dress. Rather, he chose to attack the physical and human integrity of his victim, going so far as to wonder why he was still part of this world.
In my opinion, this is going too far. When we question a person’s right to exist because of the appearance of a genetic condition, we ignore human dignity. But, it seems, there will always be people out there who are going to screw their thighs with this kind of humor.
