Monday, March 6 will open the trial of the alleged murderers of Karim Tir, former producer of rapper Jul. Why this assassination? The point on an endless vendetta.

This is the story of a man overtaken by his family name and by the settling of accounts in Marseille. Karim Tir was the music producer for rapper Jul. Coming from the same neighborhoods of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), they led a dazzling career together. Karim Tir died on June 12, 2014. While he was driving, killers on a motorcycle shot him several times. Karim Tir had already been convicted of drug trafficking in Marseille but according to investigators, he had stopped everything and started a new life in Paris.

A relentless vendetta

“There are no traces, not a single second, of anything related to drug trafficking”, says Me Ménya Arab-Tigrine, lawyer for the civil parties. Helped by anonymous witnesses, the investigators find the suspects who were staying in a building in Val-d’Oise. Why this assassination? We have to go back to 2010. In the northern districts of Marseille, two families share the drug market and engage in a relentless vendetta.
